September Magic.... Alright! Positive Energies are flowing nicely. Just got the word that The Mickey Scott Band is doing a show. [I play bass in this band] This is on September 7th at 'Dingbatz' in Clifton, NJ. We're a good-time rock & roll band. It's the first gig we've done in awhile so it's gonna be a blast! Looking forward to getting back on a stage. It's really great to see people come out & have fun seeing us play! Also.... Got a ticket to see Rachel Fuller at Joe's Pub in New York City. That should be quite entertaining indeed. She's a a great talent not to mention a nice person! We auditioned a drummer this past week & he didn't pass the test. Very nice, polite guy. His drumming was good however he had 'timing-problems' when he played drum-rolls & fills. Too bad because he had the right attitude. So the search for a drummer continues. In the mean-time we're continuing with recording. So what's new with you all out there?

To answer your question of what's new with me: my profile picture is new, See! It's a South Park version of me.

I hope you do find a good drummer because they are the backbone of a band. Also, let me know how your gig went. I wish I could have been there, but I live too far.

Take care.

Hi Ed, great to hear you have a live gig coming up. I'm sure that's food for your musician's soul to get up there on stage and rock. Oh and lucky you to have tickets for ITA! Sounds as if a lot of bloggers will be there too.

Sorry to hear you don't have a drummer yet, and good luck with the search.

Take care
Val

Hi Ed, just popped by to see if you had any new news! Thanks so much for the incredibly kind comment you left on my blog. It's just about the nicest thing I've been told lately. I love blogging because it gives me a chance to share some of this rather different life I have found in Holland..a bit different from mountains in Africa! Would love to hear and see some more about your part of the world too. I believe it's rather beautiful there in New England?

Hiya Ed - thanks for the note on my humble blog-abode. Nice to see you have an upcoming gig. What kind of material does the Mickey Scott Band perform? Covers or originals?

Prior to April I had been drumming with a northern NJ cover band for 3 years, basically with a weekly gig schedule. We parted ways when they started taking themselves way too seriously for a cover/bar band. Subsequently, I've been enjoying the break and the ability to actually make plans with people on the weekends again.

Have you been to any decent open jam sessions in the area?

Hi Ed, thanks for the links to NJ sites. I didn't realise it wasn't counted as part of New England..guess I was fooled by the 'new' prefix! I found some photos on Google too, but there isn't really so much there, and I'd love to see some more pix of the countryside etc. Any suggestions?

How's the music coming on now? Have you found your drummer yet?

I've just been to London to see my old, very ailing Dad, but I did have some time to kill before I saw him, so found a lovely walk along an old canal. Of course I had to take lots of pics, so will be posting some of them soon. Might be a day or two though.

Incidentally, I had to laugh. I went by coach overnight and we crosse the English channel on the ferry. Despite all the 'terrorist' activity and super security at the airports and train stations, there was NO security check at all before or after getting on the ferry. No luggage check, no hand baggage check, no personal checks apart from a cursory look at our passports! So much for having things sewn up! It really makes me wonder what's really going on there....

Take care
Val

Hi Ed,
It's good to see you're getting ready to play a live gig. Lucky you going to NYC to see Rachel and Company. I contemplated going, but too early in the school year to be taking 2 days off- couldn't get the flights co-ordinated otherwise.

Val, funny thing about those airport checks- the US government wants passports now for travel between the US and Canadian border, but only for airports and car/truck travel. Ferries can go through without- sounds ridiculous to me.

Enjoy your gigs, Ed!

Cheers,
AM
